It all began with a swipe and a threat during a cold January. Matt found Jen on Hinge and immediately swiped right — she was funny, smart, and the most gorgeous woman he had ever seen. He hoped she’d swipe right back.

Jen opened her app and noticed a tall, handsome blonde had liked her profile. She saw he enjoyed Mario Kart, so she sent a challenge and a threat: “I can’t wait to beat your ass in Mario Kart.” Matt was immediately smitten. He asked her to be his valentine; she accepted. They exchanged numbers and spent nearly every moment talking, getting to know each other, and laughing at each other’s stories.

Valentine’s Day was still two weeks away, and they couldn’t wait that long to meet. Matt invited Jen to Robot Fight Club in Durham. Jen — a massive dork — said yes and hunted for the perfect clanker fight night outfit. The weekend was a success, and they spent Valentine’s together, officially a couple. They’ve been pretty much inseparable since.

Now they share a beautiful home with their two dogs, Leela and Hank. Jen still kicks Matt’s ass in Mario Kart, though she lets him win every once in a while.
